We're Musicians Too.

Built from bar gigs to booking festivals.

Our Story

We wrote the books we wish we had when we started. After nearly three decades in the trenches of live performance, we've learned that success in music isn't about luck—it's about systems, strategy, and understanding what really moves the needle.

Every framework, every strategy, and every insight in BandCraft Books comes from real experience on stage, in the studio, and in the business of music. We've made the mistakes, learned the lessons, and now we're sharing the playbook.

Meet the Author

James Pitts - Guitarist and Frontman

Gordon "James Pitts" Pettipas

Guitarist, frontman, and live performance strategist behind every BandCraft Book.

Known professionally as James Pitts, he has spent nearly three decades on stage—earning every insight the hard way, one show at a time.

James first hit the stage in 1996, playing lead guitar in various local bands across the underground music scene. From bar gigs and battle-of-the-bands contests to regional clubs and recording studios, he quickly became known for his surgical tone, high-energy stage presence, and relentless dedication to craft.

In 2004, he stepped into the frontman role for the first time, launching the band BrickRiver, which he would lead for the next ten years. Known for their powerful blend of groove-driven rock and stage charisma, BrickRiver became a staple in their region—headlining venues and opening for numerous well-known national acts.

By 2014, he evolved his musical vision again, forming MoGuitar, a blues-rock powerhouse that would ultimately transform into The James Pitts Band in 2016. Since then, The James Pitts Band has built a reputation as one of the tightest, most crowd-pleasing blues party bands in the region.
